Letter from the President – Cathy S
Aug 2021
Greetings all,
As I start to write this letter I literally just say, “I am so blessed to have you all”. It was in response to an email, but again, I really am blessed to be President of such an amazing group of women. I have been involved with GLWA for over 20 years, and I will never stop saying this one thing, “We are an incredible group of women with a scope and span that no other group can ever touch”. In the course of one week, I was contacted by 3 groups looking for partners for upcoming events. Ever stop to think about how far we reach? Seriously? The museum, the food pantry and the animal shelter are looking for volunteers for upcoming events and they come to us, GLWA, because we support and champion what and who they are. That’s what we do, and how awesome is that? Way more than we like to think it’s just about being there for them, and not necessarily dollars in their coffers. Raising Hopes is a big thing, Raising Funds definitely matters, and Raising Spirits is what we might be known for best of all. GLWA is a formidable force in our community. We Matter and We Make a Difference in so many ways.
No pressure there for our newest members: Judi, Nancy, Valand Deb. We welcome you to GLWA and look forward to a great partnership with you as we move into this year. Hey guess what? LOTS going on ……….. LOTS LOTS LOTS. Ready set and GO ……. Das Fest ……… Venetian Fest ………. Ladies Day Luncheon …. Harvest Dinner ……Parade of Trees…. Holiday Helping Hands …………. Welcome to 2022 ………. Who is running for the Board …………. Happy New Year ….. Who is running for the Board ………… Happy Valentine’s Day …………? Here is our slate of candidates ………… Boom!!
The July bash was amazing! Thank you Laura and Jeff for your beautiful lakefront home, Social Committee for great food and fun, and to all our members and guests in their natty nautical gear fighting fiercely for that prized boat cruise. We raised just shy of $300, and our winner is graciously sharing her voyage with us.
There is always business to conduct. At the August meeting we will be asking for approval for several donations and sharing some fantastic updates from a recent fundraiser event. The need continues in our community and if you have ideas about ways that GLWA can help an organization or generate funds, please do not be shy. We can be pretty darn creative when we get together and best-case scenario is a win/win for all involved with a dose of fun thrown in for good measure.
As always, a huge thank you to my fellow board members who continue to find ways to move GLWA forward with technology that I may never understand. Your talents are truly appreciated. We see daily social media posts, a vibrant engaging website and activity calendar, new ways to process payments and event registrations, secure document storage and so much more. Your dedication and hard work never cease to amaze.
I look forward to seeing you at the August 09 meeting.
