Geneva Lake Women’s Association Safety Town 2021 will be Tuesday, June 8th – Friday, June 11th. It will be held at Lake Geneva Middle School, 600 N. Bloomfield Rd., Lake Geneva. Check back for registration in early March.
Safety Town is an early childhood safety education program designed for children who are at least 5 years of age and entering five-year-old kindergarten in the fall of 2021. During a 12 hour program (3 hours per day for 4 days), children learn safety behavior under the guidance of certified teachers and qualified professionals, such as firefighters and police personnel. Children learn safety lessons through role playing, games, art projects, stories, movies and field trips. Children also learn traffic and bike safety by driving their “cars” in our child-sized Safety Town. Learning experiences are designed to be fun and non-threatening, so children look forward to every day of Safety Town.
The Geneva Lake Women’s Association is proud to provide this community service for Walworth County for over 40 years. Committee chair Denise Schnurr noted that many participants have a prior connection to Safety Town. “It is amazing to see the number of parents and high school volunteers who had been participants as children,” says Schnurr.

The Fourth of July is a red, white, and blue event that provides delight to the American people with brilliant and thunderous fireworks. However, we recognize how challenging it can be for veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD.)
If you know of a veteran, check in with them throughout this weekend to see how they are doing. Let them know you are there for them, as they were for us.
Also, keep an eye on those fur babies!

Don't forget, Tomorrow (Wednesdays) the Walworth County Food Pantry and Diaper Bank continues to provide baby diapers and formula for families in need. Also incontinence products are available. Visit their website to find our more information.
